Taryn Garland, Art Therapy and Counseling Intern

I am a graduate student earning my Master’s of Science in Art Therapy with a concentration in Counseling from Mount Mary University.

I have experience working with children with cognitive, developmental and physical disabilities, adolescents, and adult caregivers.

I offer individual art therapy and also facilitate group art therapy sessions focused on managing stress and anxiety through therapeutic art making. I am bilingual in English and Spanish.

My primary focus is on work with caregivers, educators, and others who spend much of their time caring for others. I believe that the caregivers in the world make a huge impact within their communities and often are the first to neglect their own self-care. I help my clients learn to integrate healthy and creative means of processing and managing the stresses of life so that they can avoid burnout and live rich and fulfilling lives.

As a former teacher, I have experienced the immense stress of meeting high expectations, unconditionally caring for my students, and taking on the immeasurable roles within my job as an educator. I empathize with the struggle and also believe there is a way to proceed in a more healthy way.

I am able to see clients at a significantly discounted rate, as I do not bill insurance. If you are looking to seek counseling outside of your current coverage/Network, I may be an ideal choice.
